about

Soundtrack to 2021 Spanish Indie Movie 'Un Efecto Óptico'.

“In terms of style, we wanted it to begin reminiscent of the atmosphere of old Hollywood melodramas and to transform into something more hypnotic and sinister as the characters’ situation darkens. Now it’s released on its own into the world, I hope listeners will take it out with them into their own environments and use it as the soundtrack to their own movies!.” - Nick Powell
The exuberant and highly applauded original soundtrack composed by Nick Powell for Juan Cavestany's film “Un Efecto Óptico” is available now on all major platforms.
According to Nick “this music serves as the soundtrack for the film “Un Efecto Óptico” and also for the film within which the characters are trapped. Juan and I agreed from the beginning that the music would be very present throughout the film and even “excessively present”.
“I met Nick through Andrés Lima working together on the play “Urtain ” and later I asked him for music for my films “ Dispongo De Barcos ”and “Gente En Sitios ”, says Juan Cavestany. For “Un Efecto Óptico”we both wanted to carry out a more intense collaboration, starting from the script long before filming, to create a more ambitious soundtrack that ended up occupying more than 90 percent of the footage and, due to the interest that it has generated almost fifty percent of the interviews that I have done about the film ”.
"An Optical Effect" is currently running Spanish cinemas distributed by Filmin.
"Its genre is so unclassifiable that it’s necessary to let yourself be carried away by the magnificent and continuous music that accompanies the film."

'… Nick Powell's soundtrack works just as well as Angelo Badalamenti's for Twin Peaks.'

"The Best: the soundtrack by Nick Powell, which accompanies the characters at all times, and is transforming, telling its own story."
